Client Services Manager
Kim Lundgren Associates, Inc. (KLA) is seeking a client services manager to lead and enhance support to our clients. In this role, you will work directly with KLA’s CEO, Kim Lundgren, an early local sustainability pioneer who developed the first climate action plan in Massachusetts and one of the first municipal climate adaptation plans in the country. KLA is in a growth phase and Kim is seeking an outgoing, enthusiastic, creative individual in the Boston area to learn from her experience and grow with the company. The Client Services Manager will help institutionalize the KLA standard for local sustainability work.
KLA is a woman-owned, benefit corporation that partners with local governments to build the sustainable community they envision. We do this by delivering affordable tools and services to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate climate and sustainability goals and programs. The KLA Community Dashboard, our keystone tool, is a communication platform that turns data into a story. The KLA storytelling framework allows community members to better understand what the data means so they are more equipped to track progress toward goals and take action to be part of the solution.
Responsibilities
● Lead the onboarding and set up process for new KLA Community Dashboard clients
● Manage relationships with existing clients, ensuring our clients are reaping the benefits from our best in class service
● Lead the implementation of public engagement and communications efforts with our Early Adopter clients
● Serve as Project Manager on various client projects
● Support business development through research, conference prep, networking, marketing, and other means
Qualifications
● Entrepreneurial spirit- must be comfortable in a startup environment
● Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to easily translate data and science into everyday terms
● 5-10 years’ experience in the sustainability, climate mitigation and/or adaptation field
● Must be willing to continuously learn and improve performance
● We anticipate this role will evolve over the years, you will need to be flexible and comfortable in a dynamic environment
The Pluses!
● Experience working with local or state governments
● Knowledge of behavioral science
● Sales or marketing experience
● Graphic design expertise
● PMP accreditation
Must demonstrate experience and skills to complete at least two of the following (listed in no particular order) with minimal oversight:
● Create a presentation for a webinar on climate change science, policy, and/or actions
● Prepare a proposal for a conference session to promote our client’s work
● Coordinate all logistics, develop agenda, and prep speakers for a community meeting
● Facilitate a stakeholder group discussion
● Design and deliver a planning process
● Develop a public engagement strategy
● Complete a climate vulnerability assessment
● Conduct a greenhouse gas emissions inventory
● Quantify greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies
● Complete a community health impact assessment
● Research & develop a public friendly report on best practices in local climate and sustainability
● Interview a sustainability leader
● Inspire elected officials to build a climate/sustainability legacy

Social Media and Communications Internship
Kim Lundgren Associates “KLA” (www.klasustainability.com) is seeking a part-time Social Media and Communications Intern to assist with strategy and implementation for the company’s content marketing, branding and sales. It’s an opportunity to work with a start-up in the sustainability/climate change/clean energy space on a variety of writing and social media projects.
KLA is a woman-owned, benefits corporation that partners with local governments to build the sustainable communities they envision. We do this by delivering affordable tools and services to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and communicate sustainability goals and programs. The KLA Sustainability Dashboard, our keystone tool, makes it easy to track progress toward goals and creates a pathway for community participation through interactive polling and calls to action. KLA’s clients represent local governments of all shapes and sizes, including Cambridge, MA; Encinitas, CA; Nashua, NH; and San Antonio, TX.
KLA’s current communications portfolio includes: social media (Twitter, LinkedIn and launching soon on Facebook), blog posts, SAS Talk with Kim podcasts, and email marketing.
The Intern will work with KLA’s Marketing Consultant on:
- Social media strategy
- Content and posts for Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
- Graphics (design experience a plus but not a requirement)
- Pitches to media
- Writing and editing blog posts and case studies
- Content for monthly client/prospect emails
Details:
- Up to 10 hours/week
- $18/hour
- Preference for someone based in Charlottesville, VA, or Boston, MA
- Knowledge of sustainability issues a plus
- Work remotely with access to own computer, flexible schedule
- Start in September
