KLA is renowned for equitable and interactive engagement and communications work.
From videos to online dashboards, infographics, and toolkits, KLA delivers ‘easy to understand’ tools and resources that help make taking action to create more resilient and sustainable communities something all community members can participate in.

KLA Community Dashboard
KLA uses a storytelling framework that is designed to help community members better connect with and understand what data means. This empowers them to take action in their own lives to support local efforts moving forward.
Communities large and small around the country are utilizing KLA’s Community Dashboard to showcase their climate action and sustainability plans, actions, and progress toward goals.
See example sites: San Antonio, TX; Encinitas, CA; New Bedford, MA, Devens, MA.

Climate Action Campaign Branding
Building and utilizing a brand for your local government’s ongoing and future climate and sustainability action is a smart way to ensure consistent and accessible communication. KLA’s branding process delivers a name, tagline, key messaging, style guide and logo that are then applied to all print and online materials.

Storytelling and data visualization
KLA will utilize the newly developed branding to reach non-traditional audiences. KLA puts an emphasis on engaging with marginalized and vulnerable populations as the burdens of climate change often unequally fall on them.
Once we have their attention, we employ various tactics to understand their priorities and concerns; experiences with extreme weather events; and their barriers to taking action to be more resilient and/or reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Blog posts, email campaigns, social media
KLA develops tools like surveys, quick polls, and event alerts to create a consistent flow of engagement opportunities. These channels help ensure that community members stay informed and actively involved throughout the planning and implementation process.

Fact sheets, infographics, video
Ensuring all communications and engagement activities are accessible and equitable is key. We bring tactical support for accessibility needs, which includes writing materials at a 6th grade level and utilizing infographics and data visualizations; translating materials into the most common spoken languages; providing interpreters for in-person events; and ensuring color contrast is high and can be captured by screen readers.
