Strategic climate action, resilience, and sustainability planning
We highly encourage our clients to keep the actions in their plan to a minimum, so as not to get distracted by things that are nice for the community, but don’t bring any real climate benefit. We encourage going deep in areas of greatest impact, such as buildings and energy, transportation and land use, natural resources, public health, and solid waste.
KLA’s approach to community engagement focuses on reaching beyond the choir.
By engaging with community-based organizations that represent traditionally marginalized groups, we can reach a broader audience of voices that are not often heard. KLA has worked with dozens of local governments to design and implement the most equitable engagement processes they have seen to date.

KLA prioritizes engaging community members that have not previously been engaged on climate related issues. Specifically, prioritizing engagement with marginalized and climate vulnerable populations.

Internal and external stakeholder facilitation
One of the areas KLA clients provide the most positive feedback is our facilitation skills. KLA prides itself on designing stakeholder workshops and meetings that yield outcomes. We prioritize the meeting objectives and design interactive and meaningful engagement that is aligned with the audience we are working with.
Implementation Blueprints
KLA’s climate action plan development process includes the creation of Implementation Blueprints, which map out the champion, steps, timeline, partners, funding sources, and equity considerations for implementing an action from the plan.
